DiY: Make your own seed trays and pots from old packaging

The beginning of the year is a wonderful time for all hobby gardeners, as the anticipation of spring slowly but surely builds to immeasurable levels. Finally, you can get back to being active. With the battle cry of "Goodbye hibernation, hello front garden season," the first plants can be sown on your windowsill at home in February or March at the latest. This is where vegetable and herb plants gather enough strength in a warm, sheltered environment to move outside a few weeks later. So, what are you waiting for?

These things are suitable for upcycling for seed trays
egg cartons
Seed trays made from egg cartons are also super easy to make! The only requirement: The packaging should be as uncolored as possible, as otherwise color pigments could leach into the soil. Then simply cut off the lid with a cutter and fill the trays with soil. Add the seeds, and you're done!
Toilet paper rolls
Empty milk cartons
Another great packaging that you always have at home anyway: milk cartons.
You can easily trim these with a cutter and easily convert them into a nursery pot. To do this, lay the cardboard on its side and cut out one side almost completely with the cutter. To prevent waterlogging, poke a few holes in the other side and place it on a saucer.
You can get started now: Fill the box with soil, plant seeds and enjoy the results!

Newspaper, old food packaging, cans
There are so many more ways to make your own seed trays – you just have to look around a bit. You'll quickly discover that your household, and especially your supposed trash, has the potential for many different seed trays. Get creative!
Still missing the right seeds ? No problem! Here you'll find a large selection of herb, flower, and vegetable seeds. Whether tomato , red chili , lavender , rosemary , or eggplant . Be inspired and try something completely new! Who knows, maybe you'll even harvest your first physalis from your own balcony...
One thing is for sure: Once you've planted the first seedlings in your seed trays, you'll probably be overwhelmed with anticipation. We wish you a wonderful start to the gardening season and look forward to spring with you!
