About Us
The city gardeners are Derk, Jan, and Torge. Since 2012, the three boys have been producing growing gift items that are intended to bring lasting joy. Their intention: to make the world greener and more colorful. The product range extends from seed bombs , seeds , and growing kits to growing greeting cards , plant containers , and natural lucky charms . In collaboration with Lebenshilfe (a German charity), almost all products are handmade in Germany. It all began during their student days, when, amidst dreary urban canyons, the idea of declaring war on the grayness of cities first sprouted. Torge remembers: "At first, we didn't intend to turn it into a business. But over time, we received more and more requests, so we decided to open our first Dawanda shop (now Etsy)." What began as a bit of fun and a small extra income is now an ambitious young company that places great value on quality, design, and customer satisfaction. The city gardeners' products can now be found in over 500 stores. In spring 2019, the City Gardeners rolled their 5 millionth seed bomb . What began small has grown proudly. The three youngsters have now been joined by six more city gardeners, spread across Nordhorn and Lübeck.
