Make your own herbal candles

Making herbal candles

Oh, isn't it wonderful? The smell of fresh mint, fresh rosemary, or lemon balm. We can't get enough of our herbs. For all of you who can't get enough of the scent of fresh herbs and want to enjoy them not only in the kitchen but also in the living room, we've come up with something special. Today we want to show you how easy it is to make beautiful scented candles from your kitchen herbs. All you need are herbs, wax scraps or candle stubs, a candle wick, and small containers (preferably glass so you can see the herbs).

The basis: well-dried herbs

Important: While you don't need much to make herbal candles, you should remember to let the herbs dry out beforehand if possible . Not the entire plant, of course! Simply cut off a few branches with scissors and hang them up to dry for a few days (e.g., on a kitchen shelf).

Why make your own herbal candles?

Why? Yes, that's a good question! Of course, you can buy scented and herbal candles anywhere. But we have three good reasons not to do that and instead make your own.

  1. Many commercially available candles aren't made naturally, but instead contain chemical fragrances. While they serve their purpose and emit a pleasant scent, you wouldn't really want to inhale them. Therefore: homemade is natural! No chemicals, no additives , and everything is pure!

  2. The individual (fragrance) note. Making things yourself is not only great fun, it also gives you plenty of freedom to express your own personal taste. Whatever you're in the mood for, you can freely experiment with herbs and scents to create your very own herbal candles. Lemon balm and chili ? Why not! Woodruff paired with lavender and curry? Sounds fun! A colorful herbal mix of thyme , oregano , and woodruff? Absolutely! Go wild and transform your home into a colorful herbal fragrance paradise!

  3. The perfect gift: Christmas is just around the corner, and you're still looking for a lovely little gift? Then you've found it. Herbal candles look beautiful, are truly special, and smell simply fantastic! So you're sure to create a gift to suit every taste !

Have you got everything together? Then the witch's kitchen can be opened!

Preparation: The herbs are dried, the containers are ready, you've gathered old candles and wax stumps, and you've also got the candle wicks. Then you're ready to begin!

To melt the wax, a kitchen appliance for melting chocolate is perfect. Simply pour in the leftover wax and melt it over the steam. Meanwhile, you can prepare the containers. Important: Don't forget the wick. This must be placed in the center and can be stabilized with sticks so that it doesn't slip when pouring the wax. Grind some of the herbs and add them to the wax so that the fragrance can develop in the wax. Place the other part whole in the container. Then simply pour the liquid wax into the container. It's a good idea to double-check that the wick is properly seated. Once the wax has hardened a little, you can add a few more herbs. These not only enhance the fragrance but are also very decorative! Now just wait until the wax hardens again! That's basically it! Your very own herbal candle is ready!

Of course, we also got to work and made beautiful candles from our herbs. We dried rosemary , mint , sage, and lemon balm and prepared them for our herbal candles. For even more fragrance and decorative purposes, we added dried flowers and lemon to some of the candles. Simply dry lemon slices in the oven and grate a bit of lemon zest. Mmm, it smells so good!

After a few hours of creativity, good humor, and lots of delicious flavors, the result is truly something to behold! Herbal candles sage, mint and blossom magic Complete :)
