Rustic garden shelf made from an onion sieve

This is what you need
Tools:
- Set square / angle
- (Jigsaw)
- drill
- screwdriver
Material:
- A tulip bulb strainer
- 6 screws

And off we go
-
Geometry : On one of the long sides of the onion colander , mark a point about 25 centimeters from the edge. This point is at the bottom of the side wall, where the colander is attached. From this point, draw two lines, each at a 45° angle, to the top of the side wall. This creates a triangle on the side wall. Repeat the same process on the opposite side.
Decide where the sieve should be folded and saw two triangles out of the side boards at that point.
"It doesn't matter whether you fold over a piece of the long or short side of the onion strainer . You can also determine the depth of the shelf yourself, depending on where you saw the strainer. The procedure always remains the same."
-
Sawing it apart : Now saw along the marked lines to create two wooden triangles. Drill a hole in each of the two corners. Drill two holes in the tip of the triangle, as shown in the picture.
Once you have screwed the bend, you can attach the retaining rope.
"You can, of course, drive a screw through the wood without pre-drilling, but the risk of splintering is quite high with the old sieves. Especially because the holes are so close to the edge of the triangle.
- Reassemble : Now fold the sieve upward at the intersection. If you measured accurately, the two sieve halves should meet at a right angle. Then secure this position by screwing the two wooden triangles to the inside of the sieve. You can now screw two eyelets or hooks onto the top of your new shelf for hanging.
