We're making the world colorful. And you can join in by purchasing or gifting a flower sponsorship for 10, 25, 50, or 100 square meters. We'll then sow colorful flowers there. Our flower sponsorship not only makes your loved ones happy, but also brings joy to countless bees, bumblebees, and butterflies!
The idea behind the flower sponsorship:
We want to make the world more colorful! That's been our goal since our founding. And where better to start than right on our own doorstep? No sooner said than done. We sat down with local farmers and presented our idea: We want to transform agriculturally used and underutilized land back into colorful flower meadows. (Ideally, of course, many, many hectares, and ideally across Germany. But one step at a time...)
We first secured land in our home region, the county of Bentheim, where we now have more than 50,000 m² of flower meadows growing – for bees, bumblebees, butterflies, and more. Incredible! This would never have been possible without our flower sponsors. Only with your help can we realize our vision of making the world a little more colorful!

What is a flower sponsorship?
A flower sponsorship is a donation for the creation of flowering areas, climate protection, and biodiversity conservation. Thanks to your donation, we transform previously agricultural land into colorful flower meadows, creating valuable habitats for insects, birds, and other endangered species. We'll take care of everything, and you'll receive regular updates via email and Instagram.
I have the code. How can I activate my flower sponsorship?
The flower sponsorship activation code for the "Stadtgärtner Blühpatenschaft" (City Gardeners' Flower Sponsorship) can be activated at www.blumenwiesen.online . Simply visit the site and enter the code.
Why are flowering areas so important?
Bees, bumblebees, butterflies, and many other animal species are finding increasingly limited food and habitat. Contrary to expectations, flowering areas are very rare, especially in rural areas, and are being replaced by monoculture fields. Pesticide pollution also remains a major problem! Therefore, with your active support, we want to create more flowering areas again. As a source of food and habitat, these can counteract the decline in insects and thus preserve biodiversity.
Where is “my” flower meadow?
We started by creating flowering areas right on our doorstep, in Nordhorn and the surrounding area. This year, you'll find our flowering meadow on the bypass in Nordhorn (GPS: 52.471722, 7.143861) and in Klausheide (GPS: 52.471725, 7.143860). It was important to us to act locally and get involved directly on site. For us, this is the first logical step. But who knows what the future holds? Of course, we hope that one day we'll be able to have areas blooming all over Germany.
When is sowing done?
Each activated flower sponsorship will be planted by us the following year. So, for example, if you purchase a flower sponsorship in November 2025 , we will secure the corresponding additional area in January 2026 , and then the corresponding number of square meters will be sown in spring 2026. Which plants are sown?
We sow native wildflowers and herbs that are well-adapted to the climate and location. The seed mix is specially formulated for bees and other insects, providing both food and habitat. Should our dream come true and we can lease fallow land for several years and transform it into flowering areas, the seed mix we sow will naturally consist of perennial, hardy plants that continue to develop and self-seed the following year.
Can I visit "my" flower meadow?
If you're from Nordhorn and the surrounding area, feel free to stop by our flowering meadows! The map above shows you exactly where to find our flowering areas.
Can I pick the flowers from my meadow?
That would be counterproductive. The flowers are intended solely for the busy bees and their friends. Picking them is strictly prohibited. ;)
What does my flower sponsorship achieve?
A lot! From an ecological perspective, your flower sponsorship makes an important contribution. You're creating new habitat and a food source for animals and ensuring the soil can regenerate. You're contributing to greater biodiversity. And this doesn't just apply to bees, bumblebees, and butterflies. Soil-dwelling animals, spiders, birds, and small animals like mice and hamsters also find a protected refuge, nesting sites, and winter quarters here.
Can I cancel my flower sponsorship?
You don't have to! Your flower sponsorship is a one-time donation. It expires after one year.
