DiY: Garden chandelier made from onion sieve
There's nothing more beautiful than sitting outside in the garden on a warm summer night. Unfortunately, the sun eventually sets and it gets dark. In the future, you can simply light the lanterns on your onion sieve and it'll brighten up again. A nice side effect: The onion sieve light is significantly more romantic than the sun's light! ;-)
Required materials:
- onion sieve
- 4 screw eyes
- approx. 2 meters of jute rope
- snap hook
- Jute ribbon
- Glasses and bottles
- tea lights
Your tool:
- Cordless screwdriver
A little tip: The whole thing looks even nicer if you use old, playful brass hooks and eyelets instead of the carabiner.
Step 1: Hang up
First, screw a screw eye onto each of the four corner posts. Then, cut the jute rope into two equal pieces. Thread the end of one of the ropes through one of the eyelets. Tie a knot to prevent the rope from slipping back. Thread the other end of the rope through the eyelet on the opposite post on the short side of the onion strainer . A knot will also prevent it from slipping back. Repeat with the other rope on the other side of the strainer.

Step 2: Illuminate
Now, using the jute ribbon, hang old jars and bottles from the bottom of the onion sieve. Fill the jars with tea lights.

Step 3: Decorate
You can also place lanterns on top of the sieve. Potted plants or simply loose branches are also great for decorating the onion sieve. Be creative. The more playful the decoration, the more beautifully the onion sieve lamp will blend into your garden. Ready? Ready! Is DIY your world?
