Christmas in numbers
On the busiest day of the Christmas shopping season last year, Amazon shipped 15,600,000 products worldwide . On our busiest day of the Christmas shopping season (December 1st - December 20th), we shipped 113 products (also worldwide, of course ;). In total, we shipped around 15,000 seed bombs during this time, about three times as many as the previous year. We only generated 25.5% of our online sales through our shop. Other platforms such as Amazon and Dawanda accounted for the rest. Our shop's share of the order volume is even smaller, as the average customer spent €30.15 per order in our shop, while the shopping cart on Amazon, for example, was "only" €18.37 (our general average this Christmas was €18.76). We would especially like to thank Dawanda, as that's where we have our roots and we value the platform so much. Therefore, our new products have so far been available exclusively there.
For Christmas shopping, 1,455 customers visited our online shop and spent a total of approximately 72 hours there. 28% of customers visited us via their smartphone, most of them using an iPhone. Most of our visitors came from Berlin and Hamburg. However, Soltau, Bonn, and Emlichheim came next. Urban gardening is therefore also a topic outside of the major cities.
In the end, the Christmas season was stressful for us, but also very enjoyable. Especially because we've come a step closer to our dream of earning enough money to live on with the Stadtgärtner. For this, we especially thank you, our readers, customers, and fans. Every single comment, every "like," and every product review still means a lot to us. Especially because, unfortunately, we don't get much feedback in the online business otherwise. Of course, we're also incredibly happy about every single order we're able to produce, package, and ship, and we hope that our products bring joy and brighten up your surroundings!
We'd also like to thank our friends and family members who repeatedly helped us with the "rolling" when the warehouse was empty or who constantly sewed the inserts for our new plant boxes . Further thanks go to our wonderful partners, especially Mrs. Ellenrieder from our seed farm and Josefine and Christoph from our printing companies. But the biggest thanks go to our wives and children , who forgive us for sacrificing large amounts of their free time to urban gardening. Thank you so much!
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
