Christmas cookies filled with figs, oranges and walnuts
The pre-Christmas season is such a wonderful time: Because it gets dark early in the evening, windows everywhere light up so warmly and cozy, and you can faintly hear the first notes of contemplative Christmas carols. And, of course, don't forget: It's time to nibble on cookies again, which (like every year) taste even better than they smell... Mmm! Haven't baked any cookies yet? Then it's about time! In addition to classics like vanilla croissants and cinnamon rolls, we can recommend a new creation from our friends at KptnCook : Christmas cookies filled with figs, oranges, and walnuts. The recipe isn't difficult and makes enough for about 30 cookies. So, put on your apron and get to the stove ;-)
You need these ingredients (30 cookies):
- 200g wheat flour type 405
- 80g oat flakes
- 80g ground almonds
- 80g powdered sugar
- 120 g butter
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- Salt
- 160g dried figs
- 40g walnut kernels
- 1 orange
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Everything ready? Then turn up "Last Christmas" and let's go!
- Preheat oven to 180°C.
- Grind the oat flakes in a food processor.
- Beat soft butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Add egg, vanilla sugar and salt and mix.
- Add flour, ground oats and almonds and mix until a dough is formed that is not too firm.
- Wrap the dough in foil and place it in the freezer.
- Wash the orange thoroughly with hot water and grate the peel. Then halve it and squeeze out the juice.
- Roughly chop the figs and nuts in a food processor or finely chop them with a knife.
- Add cinnamon, orange zest and a little orange juice and mix or stir in again.
- Divide the dough into portions and roll out lengthwise on a lightly floured work surface.
- Spread the filling along the long side of the dough.
- Roll out the dough and cut into pieces about 2-3 cm long.
- Place the rolls on a lined baking tray and bake for about 10 minutes.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
