Upcycling cork jars
Upcycling ideas for wish-fulfillers - and other glasses
Glasses – in all shapes and sizes – quickly accumulate at home. They're simply too precious to throw away. You can use them as drinking glasses, make jam in them, or simply place them on the table as a flower vase. We also have other ideas for you on how to meaningfully upcycle the small, beautiful cork jars from our wish-fulfilling items and breathe new life into them. Two of them come from the creators of Lotsen.Shop , who are absolute pros in the field of upcycling. So, head on, the great upcycling can begin!
Idea 1: For a colorful spring greeting
As you might expect, our first idea has something to do with flowers. After all, we're urban gardeners ;-) This idea isn't ours, though, as you can also buy these pretty little glass jars for your windows. But why not just make them yourself? It's 1. much cheaper, 2. much more environmentally friendly, and 3. much prettier. All you really need is wire and suction cups , and... of course, flowers!
Tip for you: You can also reuse the wire from the wish-fulfilling charms . This is not only practical but also looks super chic.
Idea 2: For hunters and gatherers
Where to put the flower seeds , tomato seeds , zucchini seeds , melon seeds , lettuce seeds , and so on. Sowing isn't the only thing a gardener enjoys; collecting little seed treasures for the next season is also part of a successful gardening year. The little jars are perfect for collecting these treasures. If you remember to label them properly, next spring can come!
A quick tip: Since the seeds need to be stored in a dark, dry place, you'll need to store the jars together in a cardboard box over the winter. This way, they're protected from light and well protected.
Idea 3: Goodbye kitchen chaos, hello herb order
There's no secret recipe for eliminating clutter, but if you like things to be organized, this is a great idea to replicate in your own kitchen. Lined up side by side on the kitchen shelf, the herbs in jars are a real feast for the eyes. Fill with spices, label them with stickers, and place them on the herb shelf.
A nice side effect: If you buy the herbs from a packaging-free store or in refill bags and refill the jars regularly, you can also reduce waste considerably. Great!
Idea 4: For gourmet gifts and more
With homemade herbal salt, you're sure to please everyone's taste. Simply harvest fresh herbs like rosemary from the garden, chop them finely, and mix them with salt (for the perfect look, use coarse salt). Then add a pretty label, and you've got a little gift ready – for yourself or your loved ones.
Tip for you: Not every herb is suitable for this type of preservation. However, rosemary and other herbs are definitely delicious. Oregano , Thyme , sage and Dill . Also known as Maggi herb ( lovage ), Parsley and chives are taste bombs!
Small glasses, big impact!
Our little wish-fulfillers also come in pretty cork jars – in miniature size! You can use them to slip little messages of love to your sweetheart, give small gifts to the wedding guests , or collect your own seeds. But we think one idea is particularly special: Simply create a beautiful string of lights and immerse your home in a beautiful ambiance – as decoration for your door, table, and, of course, all the walls.
The design: Basically, all you need is a mini LED light chain and a few cork jars. If you want to decorate the jars for winter, washable chalk markers (for windows) are the perfect solution. These allow you to decorate the jars beautifully as you please.
