Why buy seeds online?

Why order seeds online from the city gardeners?

Admittedly, we haven't reinvented the wheel with our seed packets. There are already plenty of seed packets, but they're not all that pretty. Our seed packets consist of high-quality seeds, lovingly designed packaging, and entertaining texts that not only provide you with information about the respective seed variety, but also inspire gardening and bring long-lasting joy to you or the recipient! We provide you with the all-round package and a wonderful gift idea. High-quality seeds in lovingly designed packaging with a beautiful design, and with our seed packets, we also awaken the motivation to garden in you for free.

What do I need to consider when buying seeds?

One of the most important characteristics of the right seed is quality. This is the prerequisite for a good result—a plant you'll enjoy for a long time! Many of our seed siblings are organic and are all produced in Germany by our trusted partner Volmary/Kiepenkerl. The best part: With us, the organic, natural trend doesn't stop at the contents (the seeds), but runs like a thread through the entire design. We even create the packaging from recycled paper , with special attention to naturalness and sustainability! To ensure this, we have our seed siblings printed by a regional printer that holds the " Blue Angel " certification.

We are convinced: Organic vegetables, herbs and fruit not only taste better and are healthy and good for the environment, but also make you feel particularly good!

What do I need to consider when sowing?

The most important thing for correct sowing is first and foremost the joy of plants and the wonders of nature! That's where it all starts: Taking pleasure in watching the plants grow and wanting to achieve the best possible results through correct care are the be-all and end-all of sowing knowledge. Of course, you are not left to your own devices. On the back of the seed packet, we describe everything there is to know about the particular variety in question. And so that even inexperienced gardeners without a green thumb can enjoy a bountiful harvest, you will find detailed planting instructions inside the packet . These are also available online on the details page for each seed variety. If you are still unsure, we are happy to give you advice and support over the phone at any time! And if you follow our tips and tricks and bring patience and, above all, enthusiasm for your work, nothing can go wrong!

Attention! Our sowing guide also provides an overview of the correct sowing date, the sowing environment (such as a garden, greenhouse, balcony, or flowerpot on your windowsill), seed spacing, proper watering, and what to consider when caring for your plants. So take some time to read the guide , because here you'll find not only well-intentioned advice, but also vital tips and tricks for your chosen variety.

… and what if it’s not the right time to sow?

Don't worry! If the season isn't right for your seed variety, set the sister seeds aside and start sowing later at the right time. The seeds themselves are safely packaged in a germination protection bag, and if you store your sister seeds in a cool, dry place, we guarantee germination for at least a year.

What our customers say

Claudia (April 25, 2022)

Bee welfare Wildewiese

There were so many different seeds. I have a beautiful flower meadow, and every time one variety starts to fade, a new one with a different color appears. This not only delights me, but also the bees, bumblebees, and other insects that regularly visit my meadow. I think it's fantastic and will definitely order these seeds again next year.

Jane (April 15, 2019)

Cinnamon basil

I ordered various seeds, some of which I was able to plant already (April), while others, like this cinnamon basil, should be planted later. Can't report on the harvest yet—it's still too early! Lovingly packaged, so it would also make a lovely souvenir/gift.

Janna (October 20, 2020)

nasturtium

I didn't realize how big this plant would grow. I planted three seeds right away, and they all germinated. Our entire balcony was covered in nasturtiums. They were beautiful and really great when they finally bloomed. The flowers also look lovely in salads.

Carry (May 20, 2018)

Cucumber seeds

Very good germination. All seeds have germinated. The little plants seem resilient and healthy. I'm already looking forward to my first cucumbers.

Sophie (September 29, 2018)

Physalis seeds

It worked wonderfully, I have a large physalis bush on my balcony and can now eat my own physalis in the fall.

Saskia (January 18, 2022)

Fireflame chili seeds

I sowed vegetables myself for the first time, including this chili. I started the plants indoors and later planted them in containers on my south-facing balcony. In my opinion, they were the best beginner vegetable plants on my balcony, and I was able to harvest an incredible number of chili peppers.

Carry (May 28, 2018)

Goji berry seeds

Unfortunately, the germination rate is poor. I was only able to grow one plant from one packet. Even my dad, who has been a professional gardener for many years, was only able to grow two plants from one packet.

Skydog (01.05.2020)

Organic pumpkin seeds

A sensation in the raised bed for the second year in a row. Both times, all five seeds germinated after direct sowing in the raised bed and produced five strong, lush plants. The pumpkins also taste sensational. Even the kids think they're delicious, for example, in soup. Highly recommended.

Sophie (September 29, 2018)

Physalis seeds

The seeds germinated very well and produced beautiful, robust sunflowers.

Jane (16.10.2020)

Physalis seeds

These cornflowers are so beautiful. They bloom and bloom, in pots, on the balcony, very insect-friendly! They droop a bit to the side, with long stems, a bit wild, but very beautiful. I'll order again and give them as gifts, too.
