Our plant sets

Create your own oasis and give yourself and your friends the precious gift of slowing down. We'll support you with strong, robust plants, sustainably grown in our herb farm in Nordhorn and cultivated without the use of pesticides. In addition to classic varieties like basil, chives, parsley, and the like, you'll find a host of unusual varieties with many surprising aromas and flavors.

What makes our plants so special?

Herbs and vegetables are tastiest when freshly harvested from the garden or balcony. Flowers also seem to glow in brighter colors when you let them bloom yourself. On the way to this goal, every aspiring gardener faces the question: should I sow my own seeds or buy plants?

The decisive factor in this decision is: TIME!

While sowing itself is quick, it requires regular care and a bright location on a windowsill or in a garden to successfully grow young plants from seed. Those who want to skip this step have the option of ordering live plants for indoors and outdoors online. However, the selection process can often be overwhelming.

All too often we are faced with a huge selection in the supermarket or hardware store and are met with sad specimens that were hastily grown and have often endured long transport routes and numerous pesticide showers. Unlike these sad flowers and herbs, our plants come from the best mother plants and were lovingly nurtured by the Alexander Zierleyn herb nursery in Nordhorn . We produce our entire variety of plants 100% ourselves, from seedlings to strong young plants. Completely ecological, of course, without the use of pesticides and unnecessary waste of resources. You can order your future green plants conveniently and easily from our online shop. They are shipped in a 14 cm flower pot (the poor little plants are often grown and sold in 9 cm pots) and only when they are robust enough and have reached a respectable size (not young plants). Many years of horticultural experience and passion are the basis for good quality and freshness.

Buying houseplants and garden plants online - a risk?

One of the greatest blessings of our time is arguably the fact that it's possible to order almost anything from the comfort of your sofa. However, especially when it comes to plants for the garden and home, the images in online shops often bear little resemblance to the puny shrubs that arrive at their destination half-dried.

Since our plants, like us, come from Nordhorn, they don't have to travel long distances, nor are they stored anywhere. To give you more peace of mind, here's a quick crash course on plant shipping:

  1. As soon as you have placed all your flowers and herbs in your shopping cart and ordered them, your order will pop up in Jan's shipping section.
  2. Jan then visits our herb farm in Nordhorn every Tuesday to check whether your plants are ready to travel to you. Our plants are watered and cared for daily.
  3. In the next step, your ordered plants are carefully packaged in paper or wood wool to ensure they are optimally protected during transport.
  4. An enclosed greeting from us informs you again about the most important points to consider so that your new green roommates can settle in quickly.
  5. Once your order is packed, it will begin its journey the same day.

4 things you absolutely need to know:

1. Shipping days

Because we want our herb boxes to arrive fresh and not languish in some parcel warehouse over the weekend, we ship all orders received by 7 a.m. Monday the following Tuesday. Please make sure you can pick up your plants immediately, or pick them up from your neighbor or the post office.

2. Cut back

Sometimes it's necessary to prune the plants to encourage vigorous growth. Depending on the season, however, they will sprout again after a short time. So don't be surprised if some of the plants aren't as bushy as they appear in the photo in our online shop.

3. Shipping time

Our plants aren't made of plastic and are therefore subject to the whims of the weather. Sometimes it happens that a plant should have been available long ago, but due to bad weather, it still needs a little more time to become strong and robust enough. Please understand that we may replace a plant in your box with another one if it isn't ready yet.

4. Wooden box

We ship our plants in a beautiful, light-colored wooden box. This provides additional protection during transport and can be used in a variety of ways afterward. If you want to plant your herbs in it, we recommend purchasing the version with our custom-made jute insert. If you've already ordered your herb box and would like to order the jute insert later, you can do so here . All you have to do is fill the box with the jute insert with soil and then you can plant your herbs. You can also place the herbs in their pots in the box or use the wooden box as decoration. The possibilities are endless.

Your plants are here! What now?

Such a journey is strenuous, even for your plants. So give them a little break before repotting them or planting them in the garden or the included wooden box. Three days without wind, frost, or blazing sun are ideal. And of course, don't forget to water them! You can find even more information about your plants, including detailed planting and care instructions, under each variety in our online shop.

Finally, all that remains to be said is...

With all due care: If the plants you ordered do not meet your expectations, your care efforts are unsuccessful or you have any other questions, please send us an email to hallo@diestadtgaertner.de .
